Witness / Mask / Face

This series treats the face as a constructed surface rather than a portrait. Using acrylic, oil, and stain on wood panels, forms emerge through blocking, erasure, and compression rather than depiction. Facial features are suggested, obscured, or diagrammed, allowing identity to remain unstable. The works function less as representations of individuals and more as pressure points—sites where material accumulation replaces expression. By withholding narrative clarity, the paintings invite projection while resisting resolution, positioning the surface itself as the primary subject.
